The Dell Precision 7550 that I used to review is equipped with Intel Xeon W-10885M vPro chip with 32GB of RAM that can open 50 Chrome tabs and 5 tabs to watch 1080p videos on Youtube without any problems.
On the Geekbench 4.3 overall performance test, the Precision 7550 got an excellent score of 33636, surpassing the workstation laptop average of 24481.
The Precision 7550 only took 7 minutes and 13 seconds to convert a 4K video to 1080p in the Handbrake benchmark, faster than the desktop laptop average of 9 minutes and 29 seconds.
On our data transfer test, the Precision 7550 copies a 5gb file at 1092 mbps, slightly lower than the workstation laptop average of 1101 mbps.
Graphics processing capabilities
Equipped with an Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 card, the Precision 7550 scored 16314 on the 3DMark Fire Strike benchmark, which is higher than the desktop laptop average of 13439 points.
Although not a gaming laptop but with its high-end graphics card, the Precision 7550 can play Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Gathering Storm (medium setting) with an average frame rate of 78fps at 1080p resolution and 65 fps at 4K resolution. Gaming at 60fps or higher at 4K resolution is great for workstation laptops.
